Kendwa.com was built to answer the questions people really ask before coming here: can you swim when the tide is out, when is the Full Moon Party, how do you get there from the airport, which boat trip is worth the money, and where should you sleep.
What you will find here
- A plain-spoken guide to the beach itself, the tides and the monthly party.
- Transport from the airport, the ferry and Stone Town, with realistic times and price ranges.
- A ranking of tours written from the point of view of someone staying in Kendwa, not somewhere else on the island.
- Guides to the places within reach — Mnemba, Tumbatu, Nungwi, Stone Town, Prison Island, Jozani, the spice farms, Menai Bay and the east coast.
- A shortlist of hotels on Kendwa Beach and next door in Nungwi.
- Month-by-month advice on when to come.
How we work
Tour prices, ratings and review counts are taken from GetYourGuide; hotel scores and starting rates from Trip.com. Distances, journey times, fees and entry rules are cross-checked against operators and official sources and revisited regularly. Where a number is uncertain or changes often — taxi fares, party tickets, conservation fees — we give a range and tell you to confirm it, instead of inventing precision.
Opinions are labelled as such. If a trip involves a punishing drive, a hotel is next to a loudspeaker or a cheaper option is just as good, we say so.
How the site is paid for
We are an affiliate partner of GetYourGuide and work with Trip.com. When you book through a link here we may receive a commission; the price you pay is unchanged. There are no adverts, no sponsored articles and no paid positions in our rankings. The affiliate disclosure explains this in full.
Tell us what we got wrong
Hotels change names, fees go up, rules are rewritten. If you spot something out of date, we would be grateful to hear about it via the contact page.
